The paintings in the Picture Gallery trace the religious and cultural history of the diocese, showing the importance of painting as a means of both artistic expression and devotion.

Among the most significant works are three tempera paintings on panel depicting the Madonna and Child, St John the Baptist and St Antoninus Martyr, attributed to the Master of Gesualdo. Dated 1534, they bear witness to the cultural vitality of Alta Irpinia in the 16th century, a land that has always been a crossroads of peoples and cultures. Other valuable paintings are also displayed in this room on rotation, notable not only for their artistic quality but also for their rich religious symbolism, which often reveals unexpected meanings.
