Library

The historic library holds a large collection of books covering a wide range of subjects, from theology and church history to philosophy and the liturgy, as well as works of general culture. In the past it played a particularly important role in the training of seminarians and in their biblical, theological and historical studies. The theological works range from the Church Fathers to modern theology, including writings by St Thomas Aquinas, St Augustine and other Christian thinkers, and deal with doctrine, biblical exegesis, church history and moral theology. There are also many philosophy textbooks rooted in the Scholastic and Thomist traditions, as well as works of systematic theology. Another important section of the library is devoted to liturgical and devotional texts, which helped priests and seminarians prepare the liturgy and study the Church's spiritual tradition. Among them are many liturgical books, including several copies of the Missale Romanum, the Breviary and the Rituale, as well as texts on the various celebrations of the liturgical year.
